Starting Out

I remember when I first started out studying photography. It was an exiting time, and very nerve-wracking, because I had no idea if I was gonna be good enough. My passion for photographing people and creating stories got me connected with the modeling agencies in Oslo, Norway. Luckily they put their faith in me, and allowed me to work with their models. One of them is the beautiful Lise-Anitra Johnsen, and we did a bunch of shoots together that helped shape my style. Thank you for that. Here’s a previously unreleased photo of her, taken 6 years ago.

WOW Editorial

During Mens Fashion Week in Milan I was working with WOW, a.k.a. White On Web. They display the works of countless designers during this period and they were fronting 7 new talented designers at the fair. In addition to doing the events and location photos I was also asked to do an editorial with styling from these designers. This editorial is now out at the WOW website, but you can also check it out here.

The Absence of Your Company

Having spent this whole week with a fever and bed rest (which is painfully anti-social), I am now very happy to be well and ready to work! Tomorrow I go back in the studio for a beauty shoot and tuesday working with TOD’s. Also, I’ve been finishing up most of my work load,
including outtakes from my shoot with Leica.

Escape from Milan

A couple of weeks ago two friends visited me in Milan, and sure enough we also did a shooting. We took a train ride about 40 minutes outside of Milan, more or less just to see if there was something cool around to use for the shoot. We ended up in this huge field and under you can see some of the photos. I’m still going through all the material, but these I liked:

Renfang Hu – Part I

Here’s some photos I did last week with designer Renfang Hu and model Courtney B (2morrow models). The different designs were to be shot in different moods. Wednesday I’ll post the mens design shooting.
Make-up/Hair: Virginia Rizzo and assistant Nicole Krunić.
The first outfit will be a part of the Eco Fashion contest and exhibited at the Hub King’s Cross during London Design Festival.

Blog and Work

These past few weeks I’ve been working more than ever, which is good. What’s even better is that a lot of it will probably be published in different magazines. The downside is that it’s most likely a few months from now since I’m shooting the new autumn and winter collections of different designers.
And until then, I can’t show you anything. But, I’m gonna get some of the behind the scenes photos and write a little bit about the different projects.
These are from a shoot I did a couple of weeks ago with stylist Ellen Mirck.
Doing a shoot of the new autumn and winter collections in Milanese heat is no picnic, but the result is amazing. Will hopefully be out by September.

Update

I’ve been working hard this week doing 2 fashion shoots with Elite models and also having an event/exhibition at Kitsch bar, Milano. These days I’m doing post-production on the two stories and thought I’d share a couple of them. Also look out for the event photos later on.

And, why not a couple “behind the scenes” while I’m at it:

Hôtel de Crillon with Susan Tabak

When I was in Paris for Fashion Week, I got a couple of hours to photograph Susan Tabak at the fantastic
Hôtel de Crillon where she was staying. She is a noted style expert, the author of
Chic In Paris: Style Secrets & Best Addresses,
and publisher of the popular fashion and lifestyle website susantabak.com

Working

I’ve been working hard this week doing some photo-shoots, hence fewer updates on the blog. Just thought I would show you a photo from a shoot I had on wednesday.
I’ll upload the rest this weekend.
Did another shoot which will come out next week.
Photographer: Alexander Habesland. Model: Ronnie (Boom Agency Milano). Stylist: Veronica Mazziotta.

‘Behind the Scenes’

The ‘Tarot’ shoot was divided into two days, on the first day I only had to do 2 pictures, and I had the great Dag Veivåg with me as my assistant, he filmed and took some photos along the way.
(The second part of the shoot will be out later with extras).
For ‘The Hanged Man’ I had the model get in the cold water and then lay perfectly still on some very uncomfortable rocks.

Then I placed a poor little chair on those rocks and balanced on it with my camera lifted as high as possible. It all worked out in the end, but it could have very easily gone terribly wrong.

Prepping the model:

‘The Fool’ however was a much easier picture to get
And then this:

This is what a test-shoot looks like

On monday I was out, finally, doing the test-shoot for my fashion-spread project. It was raining all last week so it was good to get som nicer weather in time! Sandra was there to be my assistant. Mostly, she was smoking, carrying my coffee and chewing bubble gum while I was having a mental breakdown. Still fun though. And I have better grasp at what I’m gonna do for the actual shoot.

Preparation

Yes indeed preparation. There’s a lot of work that needs to be done before I move to Milan later this month! One of them is to do a shoot next week, that will involve about 15 people I guess. Here’s a little clue of what it’s all about:

Martine Marbel covershoot

So I sent over the pictures from the photo-shoot with Martine Marbel to Universal Music. They went for 5 pictures including a cover for her next single! They wanted the cover in black & white, but I also liked the version with a vintage colour scheme look. What do you like?

Oh lordy lord, I need time to retouch

This tuesday I was  in the studio, again, and did a shoot with my fabulous make-up artist Kine who did body-paint on the model. She was completely covered in gold. But again, I need time to retouch them! Also there’s some cool studio-pictures from last week as well.

Right now I have to run out and take care of some paperwork, but thought I’d leave a little sneak-peak of the look from tuesdays shoot.

Also, as usual – I’m the testmodel

Studio shoots

Here is a couple of finished pictures from the photo-shoot I had on tuesday with actress Yngvild Støen Grotmol (yngvildgrotmol.com). She needed some promotional pictures and we did a few looks for her. One of the looks was the 50’s style (I have that one in colour as well, but I loved the more black & white feel to it) and the second one is a more basic, sweet headshot. In total we chose 7 pictures, and I’m still working on the rest. Also, today I did another photo-shoot with another actress, it went really well and we ended up with a bunch of pictures I’m gonna get done later on.

I love – shoots

So, first blogpost – damn pressure! Fuck it. Here’s some lovely pictures from a shoot I did this monday for an article about Are Grongstad – a norwegian handball player. I based the look on early Marlboro ads.
